Dial-A-Lift
Long Beach Dial-A-Lift is a curb-to-curb, shared ride transit service exclusively for the mobility impaired residing in and travelling throughout the cities of Long Beach, Lakewood and Signal Hill.

Who is Eligible for Dial-A-Lift Membership?
Residents of Long Beach, Lakewood or Signal Hill, who are at least 18 years of age, permanently mobility impaired and unable to board or access the Long Beach Transit fixed route bus system are eligible to apply for Dial-A-Lift membership. Persons must be able to wait at a curb up to 30 minutes. Gurney or door-to-door services are not provided by Dial-A-Lift.

Who Provides the Service?
Long Beach Transit has contracted Taxi Systems, Inc. (TSI) to operate Dial-A-Lift. Long Beach Transit certifies eligibility, manages membership, monitors the service and provides customer service support.

Safe and Reliable Transportation
TSI drivers are trained and sensitive to the needs of persons with disabilities. Both TSI and Long Beach Transit provide vans that are ADA compliant, modern, well maintained and comfortable. Dispatchers and reservationists are experienced, efficient and in constant radio contact with the drivers.

How Does Dial-A-Lift Work?
Upon membership approval, you will receive a Dial-A-Lift photo identification card and member number that will allow you to use the Long Beach Dial-A-Lift service.

Members make reserved transit service arrangements by calling Taxi Systems, Inc. at (562) 435-0115 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM seven days a week and up to 7 days in advance. "Same day" service is provided when space is available.

Dial-A-Lift operates from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and from 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM Friday and Saturday.

Fees and Fares
The Dial-A-Lift membership card fee is $2.00. Renewal cards are $3.00. Lost cards are reissued for $5.00.

Fare is $2.00 each way. Convenient 10-ride ticket books are available for purchase by calling Taxi Systems, Inc. Customer Service at (562) 435-0115.

Personal Care Attendants
For safety purposes, members registered as requiring a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) must travel on Dial-A-Lift with their own PCA at all times. PCA's ride free of charge, must be at least 18 years of age, and have the same pick-up and drop-off location as the member. PCA's must have the ability to take care of the DAL member in case of a vehicle emergency and/or member's medical emergency. When making reservations, please mention your PCA to ensure seat availability.

Riding With a Companion
A Dial-A-Lift member may ride with a companion if space is available at the reservation time. The companion pays the $2.00 fare and must be picked up and dropped off at the same location as the member.

Service Animals
Dial-A-Lift accommodates service animals. Members notify the reservationist when their service animals will be travelling with them.

How to Apply for Long Beach Dial-A-Lift Membership
Long Beach Transit will be happy to answer any questions and help you through the membership application process. Just pick up the telephone and call (562) 591-8753 or text telephone us at (562) 599-1843 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, and we will mail you an application. After your doctor has completed and signed the application, including the physician's completed and signed statement, submit it to Long Beach Dial-A-Lift and you will be called to schedule an interview with a Dial-A-Lift administrator.
