Long Beach Transit is introducing a newly-designed Day Pass. All Day Passes issued from fareboxes on board Long Beach Transit buses will now be credit card sized fare cards with a magnetic stripe. To use the pass, swipe the card through the farebox each time you board a Long Beach Transit bus. Day Passes purchased outside Long Beach Transit buses, such as at the downtown Transit Information Center, will remain as they are and will still be shown to the driver — not swiped.

How to Obtain a Day Pass On Board the Bus

1. Tell the driver that you’d like to purchase a Day Pass.
2. Insert exact fare into the farebox as usual, using the dollar bill and coin slots.
3. The farebox will eject a magnetic swipe card from the slot on top of the machine, on the left side.
4. Take the card and move back into the bus. Passes do not need to be swiped for your first ride on the bus.

How to Use a Day Pass:

1. The new Day Passes need to be swiped through the farebox each time you board a bus.
2. Hold the card with the magnetic stripe on the bottom and facing you.
3. Slide it through, from right to left, the diagonal slot located on top of the farebox, in the corner on the right side.
4. A BEEP will sound alerting you and the driver that the pass has been accepted.
5. A WARBLE will sound when a pass is misread, invalid or expired. If this happens, swipe again. If a second WARBLE sounds, please pay the standard fare with exact change.

Inter-Agency Transfers:
Inter-agency transfers will now also be issued from the farebox machine. As before, tell the driver that you need an inter-agency transfer, and deposit the exact fare. Take the transfer from the top of the farebox machine.

How to Care For Your Day Pass:

1. Do not get it wet.
2. Do not expose it to the sun.
3. Do not wrinkle or fold it.
4. Do not tear it
